Dry Down to the Skin

By Furry Fluff Spa

Dampness trapped close to the skin is a leading cause of matting and irritation. Here's how to dry thoroughly.

After a bath, drying is just as important as the wash itself. Dampness trapped close to the skin is one of the leading causes of matting, hot spots, and skin irritation.

Towel drying alone rarely reaches the undercoat. Work a towel through the coat first, then use a blow dryer on a cool or low-warm setting, keeping it moving and a safe distance from the skin so you never risk a burn. Lift the coat with your hand or a brush as you dry so air reaches all the way down.

If your dog is nervous about the dryer, start with short sessions and plenty of praise. We use professional high-velocity dryers that dry the coat quickly and gently — one of the reasons a freshly groomed dog stays comfortable for days afterward.
