Overgrown nails affect posture and comfort — a trim every three to four weeks keeps your dog moving well.
Nails that grow too long change the way your dog stands and walks. They push the toes up, put strain on the joints, and can make walking on hard floors slippery and uncomfortable.
Aim for a trim every three to four weeks. If you can hear your dog's nails clicking on the floor, they're due. You'll also want to check the dewclaws, which grow in a curve and can curl into the skin if they're forgotten.
If trimming at home feels risky, ask us to include a nail trim — or a smooth grind, which rounds the edges and is especially helpful for dogs who dislike the clippers. Either can be added to any grooming appointment.
